BIOGRAPHY
Jym's art reflects his interest in conservation advocacy, 'otherworldly' landscapes, and eccentric folk customs. His recent exhibitions include shows at The California Nature Art Museum, The Swan Coach House in Atlanta, The Sage Art Center in Wyoming, and a 2021 solo show at Day & Night Projects in Atlanta (which at the Atlanta-Journal Constitution featured as one of the year’s ‘notable shows’). Since 2016, Jym has been a National Park Artist-In-Resident five times: Big Cypress Preserve in Florida, Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona, Lassen Volcanic National Park in California, Craters of the Moon Monument in Idaho, and Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico. His art residency work was featured by the National Endowment for the Arts. Jym also serves as the Endowed Chair of the Art Department at Reinhardt University. Jym’s alter-ego Instagram account
FALSE FACE has over three hundred thousand followers.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I describe my work as a personal mythology filtered through ancient folklore. My masks, outfits, and sculptures use the materials of the old customs: ribbons, bells, flowers, horns, and vibrant paints. I am particularly fond of the rich, old traditions of the British Isles which echo into the American folk customs I grew up with in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. I see my work as an alternate reality, where the old festivals splintered into new forms with different fables. These variant stories are informed by science fiction and an increasingly apocalyptic-looking future.
